You may have heard about July 7, 2007 [aka 7/7/7] being a big day for weddings. Since it was on a Saturday and lots of people feel like they need lots of luck on their wedding day, records were set for the number of weddings held on 7/7/7. More importantly - 7/7/7 was my birthday. Not just any ole birthday, but a big one. I was born 7/7/67, so do the math.
Carey put on and organized a fabulous party, with the theme of island casino. We commissioned the very talented Dirk Fowler, of D-2 Designs (you may seen the 8 page feature on Dirk and his concert poster designs in the June 2007 issue of Texas Monthly) to create the logo/motif and invitation for the party. Dirk created the perfect design for the party - as well as limited edition posters on his antique letterpress printer. Check out his website to see more of his great designs.

Carey’s friend and chic event planner, Donette (Events-3) Primm, helped plan the soiree, which was held at the historic Mitchell Lofts building. Not a detail was missed! Act I of the party in my office/studio. Upon arrival, guests were greeted and lei’d by our cute Tiki girls. No, silly, floral leis, you know, leis from Hawaii.
Our friends from Wendy Krispin Caterer dispensed your choice of beverage. My favorite was the Tonga Punch (email me and I’ll send you the recipe - created at Trader Vic’s)…Tropical, colorful, but not too sweet! Waiters magically appeared with plates of yummy snacks like grilled shrimp on sugar cane skewers. More photos & details to come later.
We also had a photo booth - here are some of the photos from the photo booth:
