Saxon and Samantha’s “Gran” (my dad, Bailey Moseley), serves on the 6th Texas Court of Appeals. Gran, who loves to write, often finds ways to spice up the opinions he authors. Since they’re all published on the web, I read them every now & then, and often find humorous bits and pieces.
For example, in the case of .39 ACRES, .748 ACRES, AND .5 ACRES (WITH IMPROVEMENTS) IN THE J. JOHNSON SURVEY, MARION COUNTY, TEXAS, AND A .22 CALIBER RUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL, Appellant V. THE STATE OF TEXAS, Appellee (here’s the full opinion, in case you think I’m joking), Justice Moseley wrote:
Suffice it to say that, judging from the criminal records of the patrons of the business and Doke’s renters of the place, the Dew Drop Inn was never intended to be a competitor of the Chuck E. Cheese family fun restaurants.
Well, apparently, I’m not the fan of reading appellate court opinions coming out of East Texas. Texas Lawyer recently blogged about one of Gran’s “Only in Texas” style opinions.
