Here comes Saxon - Part Two

My parents arrived from Marshall just before 1AM appearing adequately caffeine-fueled (or was it the adrenaline from the anticipation of grandchild numero uno’s arrival?) for an all-nighter. Carey’s doc, George Branning, was not on call, so his partner Dr. LeAnn Haddock arrived to deliver Baby M.

Around 3AM, the grandparents headed to the waiting room, leaving just Carey, me, Joanie (the labor/delivery nurse who was with us all night) and Dr. Haddock to do bring Baby M into this world. Of course, Carey did all the hard work! Nope, sorry, no photos. The photographer was too busy being supportive and helping to take many photos.


At 4:12AM, Saxon Marie Moseley, entered this world 20 inches long and weighing 7 lbs, 3 oz. All fingers, toes accounted for. Healthy baby.

Here comes Saxon - Part One

Although Carey’s official due date was August 26, the newest little Moseley could have cared less. Just before 4pm on August 10, Carey phoned to tell me her doc had issued orders for her to go to the hospital. Carey thought her water might have broken, but wasn’t sure.Actually, Carey had first called her doctor before lunch and was told to go to the hospital then, but since she didn’t think she was anywhere near starting labor, she said, “Nope, I’ve got things to do…I have two conference calls and have to….” (if you know Carey, you understand). In addition, neither Carey nor I wanted to be the rookies showing up at the hospital crying wolf and have a condescending caring healthcare professional tell us to go back home for two weeks.Around 5:30, we finally started toward Baylor Medical Center. It was when we made a quick stop at Sonic, to get Carey a grape slush, that the contractions began big time! At Baylor, Carey learned (a) her water had broken; (b) she was in labor and (C) she was heading to Labor and Delivery (aka L&D).

Maternity Portraits - Just in Time!

We knew we were going to make some maternity portraits of Carey and the “belly,” but I wanted to wait until we had a really big belly. We made these portraits in the nick of time, since Saxon arrived 5 days later. She was a great model - here are a couple of my faves.

Grow Baby Grow

Carey was blessed with the lack of morning sickness during her pregnancy. Hooray! Thank you Lord for small miracles. But to be honest, Carey wouldn’t have complained anyway - she’s a big-time trooper. Here’s a photo of Carey at 4 months.
