axon made her first trip to the North Carolina mountains this month. She thinks she could really get into that type of living! Relaxing by the fire, hikes and LOTs of waterfalls to look at while tooling around. Thank you Uncle Von, Aunt Christy, Alex, Avery and new baby Mac for letting us tag along with you and Mimi for the weekend. We really enjoyed spending time with you!

On New Year’s Day, Carey, Saxon and I went to Marshall to visit my parents. You see, the next day, was going to be a BIG day for my dad. After a year of hard work on the campaign trail, Dad would be sworn-in as a Justice on the 6th Texas Court of Appeals.

The big day of festivities started with a lunch hosted by my dad and by his brother, Sam Moseley. Dad insisted that we bring Saxon, who decided she had stage fright the minute she arrived (My cousin’s wife Marilyn had the best of intentions of holding her, but Saxon decided crying loudly would be her course of action! Marilyn - it wasn’t your fault!).

After the lunch, we walked across the town’s square to the Harrison County Courthouse to join a standing-room-only crowd of around 250 who were there for Dad’s “investiture” ceremony. Follow the link (more) for the rest of the story… Continue Reading »

Saxon’s first Christmas was spent in Colorado with Carey’s family. Carey’s parents (Mimi and Pops) hosted everyone in beautiful Copper Mountain. Joining us were Carey’s sister Teresa, her sister Ashley and her husband Mike and her Aunt Val and Uncle Brian.

We arrived in Denver the morning after the airport re-opened, having been closed for Blizzard #1. After sitting on the runway for an hour, we fought our way thru the masses at DIA. We could see lots of signs of a 24 inch snowfall just 3 days earlier.

Saxon enjoyed being with family and also got to take her first sled ride.
